Starbucks
Partnering with Salesforce, we successfully launched Starbucks’ first community application. MyStarbucksIdea.com is a voting platform allowing customers to submit their ideas on ways to improve Starbucks — from customer service to corporate operations — and vote on others’ ideas. Highest-voted ideas are reviewed by Starbucks and implemented. My design was inspired by Starbucks’ now-ubiquitous white whole-bean coffee bags. This was my largest project during my time at Starbucks, and one of the most important strategies for the company in 2008; CEO Howard Schultz congratulated our team in person.

In my view, MSI could have been a lot better and more useful. Salesforce’s solution is extremely antiquated, from user experience to the architecture it’s running on. This “closed box” architecture made even the slightest code modifications a frustrating and costly affair, not to mention adding new, major functionality features. Had my pay grade permitted, we would have built MSI from the ground up, saving an obscene amount of money and greatly improving the user experience simultaneously.
